What is PPF?
PPF stands for Paint Protection Film — a transparent, thermoplastic urethane film applied to the painted surfaces of a vehicle. It creates an invisible barrier that protects your car's paint from stone chips, scratches, sand abrasion, bird droppings, UV damage, and other environmental hazards.
Originally developed for military helicopters to protect rotor blades from debris, PPF technology has evolved into a sophisticated automotive product used on everything from daily drivers to supercars.
How Does PPF Work?
PPF works by absorbing physical impacts before they reach your paint. The film is typically 6–8 mils thick and consists of multiple layers: an adhesive layer that bonds to the paint, a shock-absorbing polyurethane core, and a self-healing clear coat on top.
When a stone chip or scratch hits the PPF surface, the film absorbs the impact. Minor scratches in the top layer heal themselves through heat — from sunlight, warm water, or even the warmth of your hand. The result: your paint stays perfect underneath while the film takes the punishment.
