Why PPF for Trucks in Dubai Is a Sound Investment
Pickup trucks and full-size SUVs are the highest-risk vehicle category for paint damage on Dubai roads, for three reasons specific to their size, use, and the local driving environment.
First, ride height. Trucks and large SUVs sit higher than saloons, which means the bonnet and front end are in the direct path of debris launched from the tyres of the vehicles ahead. On Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road and Al Ain Road, where aggregate trucks and construction vehicles generate stone chip debris at 120 km/h, the front of an unprotected Land Cruiser or Patrol accumulates impact damage faster than almost any other vehicle type.
Second, towing and off-road use. Many Dubai truck owners use their vehicles for desert driving, Hatta road trips, and weekend off-road use. Sand abrasion from off-road surfaces at speed strips the leading edges of bonnets, bumpers, and door edges rapidly. Areas that are protected on other vehicles (door handles, sills) are frequently exposed on trucks to boot and gear contact.
Third, vehicle value. A 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser 300 in the UAE retails from AED 280,000. A 2025 RAM 1500 from AED 220,000. The cost of full body PPF on either vehicle, at AED 11,000 to AED 16,000, represents 4 to 6% of the vehicle's value. The protected paint commands a measurable premium at resale, and original factory paint on every panel is the single highest-value condition indicator for UAE buyers.
What Does PPF for a Truck Cost in Dubai?
PPF pricing for trucks and large SUVs is higher than for sedans due to greater surface area, more complex panel geometry, and longer installation time. Here are the reference prices for certified installation using Suntop, XPEL, or 3M film at our Al Quoz studio:
**Toyota Land Cruiser 300 / Lexus LX600:** - Partial front (bonnet, bumper, front wings, headlights): AED 5,500 to AED 8,500 - Full body: AED 13,000 to AED 18,000
**Nissan Patrol (Y62):** - Partial front: AED 5,000 to AED 8,000 - Full body: AED 12,000 to AED 17,000
**RAM 1500 / GMC Sierra / Chevrolet Silverado:** - Partial front: AED 5,000 to AED 8,000 - Full body: AED 12,000 to AED 18,000 (pickup bed side panels add complexity)
**Ford F-150 / Ranger:** - Partial front: AED 4,500 to AED 7,500 - Full body sedan-equivalent: AED 11,000 to AED 16,000
**Mitsubishi L200 / Toyota Hilux:** - Partial front: AED 4,000 to AED 6,500 - Full body: AED 9,000 to AED 14,000
Pickup bed coverage is quoted separately and depends on whether you want the bed sides, tailgate, and load area covered. For working trucks where the bed takes heavy use, a truck bed liner alternative is sometimes preferable to PPF in the load area.
All pricing includes certified installation, computer-cut templates, 10-year manufacturer warranty, and the full preparation sequence. For a complete pricing reference, see our PPF cost Dubai guide.

Priority PPF Panels for Trucks and Large SUVs in Dubai
Not every truck owner installs full body PPF immediately. For owners who want to prioritise spend or start with the highest-impact panels, here is where protection delivers the most value on a large SUV or pickup:
**Bonnet.** The single most stone-chip-exposed surface on any vehicle. On a truck or SUV where the bonnet surface area is two to three times that of a sedan bonnet, the damage accumulation on an unprotected panel is proportionally greater. Full bonnet coverage is the non-negotiable starting point for any partial PPF package on a truck.
**Front bumper.** Takes the same stone chip exposure as the bonnet plus additional stone chip impact from lower angles. The bumper fascia on a Land Cruiser or Patrol is a large, complex panel where replacement costs exceed AED 3,000 to AED 5,000 for genuine parts. PPF prevents the surface damage that leads to replacement.
**A-pillars and door mirror housings.** Exposed surfaces on trucks due to the height and profile of the vehicle. A-pillars accumulate sand abrasion from driving at highway speeds. Mirror housings take debris impacts from all directions.
**Door leading edges.** The front edge of each door is the first panel to take damage from stone chips kicked up by the front tyres. On trucks where rear tyre clearance is wide, rear door edges also take impact.
**Rocker panels and door sills.** On trucks used for off-road or desert driving, sill damage from sand, gravel, and boot contact accumulates rapidly. Rocker panel PPF is standard on any serious off-road-oriented full body package.
For trucks used for regular off-road or desert driving, we recommend full body coverage as the starting point rather than partial front. The exposures are not concentrated on the front alone as they are for highway commuters.
How Long Does PPF Take for Trucks in Dubai?
Full body PPF on a large SUV or pickup truck takes four to seven days at a professional studio. The timeline is longer than for a sedan for two reasons: greater surface area requires more template cutting and film application time, and the complex panel geometry on trucks requires more skill and time per panel to achieve a clean edge finish.
Partial front PPF on a large SUV or pickup takes two to three days. This longer estimate compared to sedan partial front installations accounts for the larger bonnet and bumper surfaces that require more time to apply and heat-form correctly.
For truck owners who cannot leave their vehicle for multiple days, we offer prioritised booking slots that allow early drop-off and late pickup to minimise vehicle downtime. WhatsApp us to discuss scheduling options.
During the installation window, the vehicle stays in our climate-controlled Al Quoz studio. After collection, the PPF requires 24 to 48 hours of careful use before the adhesive fully cures. Avoid high-pressure washing for seven days and desert driving for 14 days after installation.
Should I Get PPF or Tinting Done First on My Truck?
This question comes up frequently for new truck owners in Dubai who want both PPF and window tinting. The order should always be:
1. Paint decontamination and correction 2. PPF on painted surfaces 3. Ceramic coating on PPF surfaces (optional, adds hydrophobic performance) 4. Window tinting
Window tinting is applied to the interior glass surface and does not interfere with exterior PPF at all. The question of sequence matters for the ceramic coating layer, not for tinting.
The reason PPF comes before ceramic coating is that ceramic coating applied over PPF provides the hydrophobic layer on the PPF surface. If ceramic coating is applied first and then PPF is installed on top, the film adhesive bonds to the ceramic rather than directly to the paint, which reduces adhesion strength and increases the risk of edge lifting.
For trucks where window tinting is a priority, both services can be booked together at our Al Quoz studio and completed in the same multi-day visit, with PPF applied to the exterior first and tinting applied to the glass after.
For a breakdown of how PPF and detailing interact as combined services, our PPF and detailing guide covers the full sequence. For Land Cruiser-specific information, our PPF Land Cruiser Dubai guide covers the model in detail.
