What Does Full Body PPF Cover on a Car?

Full body PPF for a car means every painted exterior panel is wrapped in a continuous layer of thermoplastic urethane film. This includes the bonnet, front bumper, front fenders, all four doors, rear bumper, rear quarters, boot lid, roof, A-pillars, B-pillars, and mirror caps. Nothing painted is left exposed.

The distinction from a partial PPF package matters considerably. A partial front kit covers the bonnet, bumper, fenders, and headlights — the panels that take the majority of highway stone chip impact. Full body coverage extends protection to every surface, including the doors and rear panels that accumulate swirl marks, parking lot scuffs, and fine sand abrasion over time.

For a new car arriving in Dubai, full body PPF is the single most effective way to lock in factory paint condition across the full ownership period. For a car you plan to sell in three to five years, it can represent the difference between original paint on every panel and a patchy service history that suppresses resale value.

Which Cars Benefit Most from Full Body PPF?

Not every car has the same return on full body PPF investment. These vehicle types get the clearest benefit in Dubai.

**Luxury and exotic cars.** A Porsche 911, Mercedes GLE, BMW M Series, or Land Rover Defender has high paint cost, long ownership cycles, and a buyer pool that uses paint depth gauges at appraisal. Original factory paint on every panel commands a measurable premium over respray panels in this segment. Full body PPF is an insurance policy that pays out at sale.

**White, silver, and pearl finishes.** Light colours show every chip, scratch, and swirl mark. They are also the most popular finishes in Dubai, which means the used car market is saturated with them — condition is the only differentiator. Protected paint shows consistently higher condition scores at auction.

**Daily highway commuters.** A car that does Emirates Road or Al Ain Road five days a week takes dozens of stone chip impacts per month from aggregate trucks. Partial front coverage handles the obvious front panel risk, but unprotected door skins and rear quarters accumulate road rash at the same rate. Full body coverage removes the entire stone chip calculation from ownership.

**Leased vehicles.** Dubai lease returns are assessed against the original paint standard. Certified PPF installation provides documentation of original paint depth and condition at handover, and the film protects every panel from the dings and chips that accumulate during a 2 to 3 year lease cycle. How Much Does Full Body PPF Cost for a Car in Dubai?

Full body PPF for a car in Dubai varies by vehicle size and film brand. These are current prices at our Al Quoz Industrial Area 2 studio.

**Small sedan or hatchback (e.g. Yaris, Civic, A-Class):** - Suntop film: AED 3,500 to AED 5,500 - XPEL Ultimate Plus: AED 5,500 to AED 7,500

**Mid-size sedan or standard SUV (e.g. Camry, Accord, RAV4, Tiguan):** - Suntop film: AED 5,500 to AED 8,000 - XPEL Ultimate Plus: AED 7,500 to AED 11,000

**Large SUV or luxury (e.g. Land Cruiser, G-Wagon, Cayenne, S-Class):** - Suntop film: AED 8,500 to AED 12,000 - XPEL Ultimate Plus: AED 12,000 to AED 18,000

Prices include paint decontamination, single-stage paint correction, film installation, and a 10-year manufacturer warranty. VAT is included. For a breakdown of what drives price variation between vehicles, see our PPF cost Dubai guide.

Honest caveat: PPF does not protect against deep scratches that cut through the film itself, or against impacts above a certain threshold such as a car park wall hit or shopping trolley collision at close range. For those events, the film absorbs the damage instead of the paint, but both may need attention depending on severity.

Full Body PPF vs Partial PPF: Which Should You Choose?

The decision comes down to vehicle value, use profile, and budget. Here is a direct comparison.

**Partial front PPF** (bonnet, bumper, fenders, headlights) covers the panels that absorb over 80% of highway stone chip damage. For a daily commuter on a standard budget, it is the highest-return starting point. Cost is AED 2,500 to AED 5,500 depending on vehicle size and film.

**Full body PPF** extends that protection to every panel. The additional investment covers door scuffs, rear quarter rash, boot lid chips, and roof contamination that partial kits do not address. For a vehicle worth more than AED 150,000, or one that will be sold within three to five years, the full coverage calculation typically makes financial sense.

A third option: full front plus door cups and edge guards. This is not a standard package but can be quoted separately. It covers the highway chip exposure plus the two highest-frequency door damage points without committing to a full body installation.

What Is the PPF Installation Process for a Full Car?

A full body PPF installation for a car takes 3 to 5 days at a professional studio. The process at our Al Quoz facility follows these steps.

**Day 1: Decontamination and paint correction.** The car is hand-washed, clay bar treated, and machine polished. Any swirl marks, scratches, or contamination present on the paint when the film is applied will be permanently sealed beneath it. This preparation step is non-negotiable for a quality result.

**Days 2 to 4: Film application.** Computer-cut film templates, specific to your vehicle's make, model, and year, are applied panel by panel using a water-slip technique. Each panel is heat-formed into body lines and edges are wrapped into gaps rather than ending on paint surfaces. This gives the film an invisible finish that survives normal use and washing.

**Day 4 to 5: Cure and inspection.** The car sits in the climate-controlled bay for 24 to 48 hours to allow full adhesive cure. Every panel is inspected under focused LED lighting before handover. Warranty documentation is provided with the car.

Certified installers for Suntop, XPEL, and 3M are essential for warranty coverage. Uncertified shops using unbranded film may quote lower prices but the result yellows and peels within two to three years under Dubai's UV load, and carries no manufacturer backing.

For vehicles where PPF is being combined with ceramic coating, the correct sequence is PPF first, ceramic coating applied over the film. See our guide on what is PPF for a full breakdown of the product.

How Long Does Full Body PPF Last on a Car in Dubai?

Quality full body PPF from Suntop, XPEL, or 3M lasts 7 to 10 years in Dubai's climate when maintained correctly. All three manufacturers back their premium tiers with a 10-year warranty against yellowing, cracking, peeling, and delamination. Dubai's UV index and summer heat are within the tested operating range for these films.

Dubai-specific factors that affect lifespan: the UV index peaks at 11 during summer and stays above 8 for nine months of the year, which is the primary driver of long-term film degradation. Premium PPF incorporates UV-stabilised clear coats rated for these conditions. Budget or unbranded films without UV stabilisers show visible yellowing within 3 to 5 years under the same load.

Maintenance matters. Films washed with pH-neutral shampoo and avoided from rotating-brush car washes consistently reach 8 to 10 years. Films washed aggressively or with alkaline detergents typically show edge lifting at years 4 to 6. An annual ceramic spray topper applied to the film surface extends the hydrophobic performance and makes the film easier to maintain clean across the full warranty period.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

For most car owners in Dubai, full body PPF is worth it if the vehicle is worth more than AED 150,000, will be sold within 3 to 5 years, or does daily highway driving. Dubai's UV index, sand, and aggregate truck traffic on Emirates Road and Al Ain Road damage unprotected paint faster than in most markets. Full body PPF locks in factory paint condition for the full ownership period. For daily commuters on a budget, partial front PPF targeting the highest-impact panels is the practical starting point.

Full body PPF for a car in Dubai costs AED 3,500 to AED 5,500 for a small sedan using Suntop film, AED 5,500 to AED 8,000 for a mid-size sedan or standard SUV, and AED 8,500 to AED 12,000 for a large SUV or luxury vehicle. XPEL Ultimate Plus adds a 15 to 25% premium over Suntop pricing. All prices include paint decontamination, single-stage correction, installation, and a 10-year warranty.

Full body PPF protects against stone chips, sand abrasion, minor key scratches in the film surface, UV damage, and bird dropping etching. It does not protect against deep scratches that penetrate through the film itself, or against direct impact damage from parking lot walls, shopping trolleys at close range, or keying with deliberate force. The film absorbs the damage instead of the paint in those cases, but the film may need section replacement depending on the severity.

Full body PPF installation takes 3 to 5 days for a complete car at a professional studio. Day 1 covers decontamination and paint correction. Days 2 to 4 cover film application panel by panel. The car then cures for 24 to 48 hours before the final inspection and handover. Partial front coverage takes 1 day. Same-day turnaround is not realistic for full body work at a studio that does the job correctly.
